YMCA Kanawana offers an exciting summer camp experience that focuses on fun, adventure, learning, and creativity in a safe & cooperative environment. It is a place where young people can learn about nature and be physically active outdoors while acquiring new skills, building self-confidence and establishing lasting friendships.
Our programs are guided by the YMCA Camping Principles available on our Mission & Values Page.
We have two main types of programs: (Please note: Campers may register for more than one session/program).
RESIDENTIAL SUMMER CAMP PROGRAMS As a residential camper, your child or teen will be placed in an age-appropriate, single-sex, cabin or tent group. For Junior & Senior campers, mornings are spent enjoying two of their favourite activities of choice, while afternoons and evenings are made up of exciting cabin group and all-camp activities. Within our residential summer camp programs, there is also for campers aged 10-16 to participate in an exciting 4-6 day canoe trip (Explorers & Adventurers).
English immersion program: In collaboration with the Language School of The YMCAs of Québec, YMCA Kanawana is giving campers aged 13 to 16 the opportunity to take English courses in a summer camp setting. It’s a great way to take advantage of our wide variety of fun and stimulating outdoor activities while learning or improving your English. The classes will be run by our dynamic and certified teachers during normal interest group periods. The rest of the day will unfold like a regular camp day under the supervision of a Kanawana counsellor.
The English immersion program will only be offered in Session 1 which takes place from June 28th to July 10th. Beginner and intermediate classes will be offered with a maximum of 15 participants per group. The 30 hours of classes will be divided as follows: 10 classes of 3 hours each. Looking forward to seeing you there!

LEADERSHIP & OUTDOOR ADVENTURE PROGRAMS Camp YMCA Kanawana has been a leader in the area of outdoor leadership and adventure programming since its inception in 1894. We founded many of the first outdoor-based leadership programs for young people in Québec. Although Kanawana has a strong sense of tradition, we are committed to innovation and continually develop new programs and opportunities to meet the changing needs of today’s youth. We operate our canoe trips based on our principles of environmental sustainability.
The Voyageur programs offer a number of exciting canoe trip options for various skill levels and ages. We also have two leadership programs: The Leader-in-training program (Trailblazers) is for those looking to gain experience working with children, while the W.O.L.F program is a training program designed for people who are passionate about the outdoors and looking to gain experience in back country canoe tripping.
